What a Beginner to CBD Oil Needs to Know

You’ve heard it about on the news; your relatives have sent you clippings from the newspaper. Your local high street health food shop may even have a whole aisle dedicated to the stuff.

Thinking about dipping your toes into the latest supplement sensation? Let’s find out where to start and what you need to know with this beginner's guide to CBD.

What is CBD?

Short for 'cannabidiol', CBD is one of over a hundred molecules called cannabinoids that are found commonly in the cannabis plants and its close relation to the industrialised hemp plant. Another cannabinoid you may have also heard about is THC, which is known to for its psychoactive properties, as well as producing the high so synonymous with the infamous cannabis plant. Fear not and feel rest assured because CBD is safe, legal and will not get you high. On the contrary, it can actually help you maintain a healthier lifestyle.

Should I Take CBD?

We’re all different and more or less anything we take will work differently for each individual. As a rule of thumb, it can help maintain a healthier lifestyle overall if taken properly. The future of CBD is certainly a fascinating one to keep a watchful eye on.

How Do You Take CBD?

The most common way to take CBD is by using sublingual oil extracted from high-grade hemp, or by vaping CBD vape oil in a vaporizer or e-cigarette device.

Roughly 2-3 drops of CBD oil should be placed directly underneath the tongue and held there for up to 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, simply swallow any remaining oil to take drops properly.

Using CBD vape oil will require an e-cigarette or vaporizer with a refillable e-liquid chamber. We would recommend taking anywhere between 4-6 puffs depending on your personal preference.

If it's your first time using CBD, we would always recommend starting low and working your way up in strengths depending on whether you find you need to. As we've mentioned, CBD is safe to use, with no known cases of overdose.

Take CBD whenever you feel the time is right for you.

Key Things to Consider When You Use CBD

The surge in popularity of CBD means that products are quite literally everywhere. However, there are a few things to watch out for and consider before you go blowing your hard-earned cash on the wrong thing.

To start with, make sure you purchase the appropriate CBD product. While CBD may be sourced from the hemp plant, this should not be confused for hemp seed oil, which is more likely to provide you with some great vitamins and minerals, but little-to-no CBD.

If you’re intending to vape your CBD, ensure you buy our CBD Vape Oil. This should not be orally ingested and instead used within the appropriate vaporizer device that includes a refillable e-liquid chamber. Make sure the chamber is clean and not contaminated with any previous e-liquid residue that may contain nicotine.

If you’re thinking of using sublingual drops, our CBD Oil drops are a great place to start. As is true with the aforementioned warning of swallowing CBD vape oil, don’t try and vape CBD sublingual oil: it tastes awful!

Choosing the right strength of CBD will be key to your experience. As mentioned, we would recommend starting with a lower strength, for example, 100mg per 10ml bottle. We sell varying strengths of up to 1500mg per 10ml bottle which means that you can gradually up your dosage. If it's your first time using CBD, we would say avoid thinking that stronger is necessarily better.
