Can You Consume CBD on the Keto Diet?

Substances that can be consumed on Keto

Popular among those wishing to lead a healthier lifestyle through dieting, the Keto diet is a hot topic yielding successful results for those taking part. But what is the keto diet and more importantly can you consume CBD if you’re on the Keto diet? Let’s find out more.

What is the Keto Diet?

Keto is short for ketogenic, which comes from the name of the small fuel molecules ‘ketones', which are produced by the body when you reduce the number of carbs that you eat and only eat moderate amounts of protein. In fact, it's the liver that produces the ketones from stored fat, which then act as a fuel source to power your body and more specifically your brain.

The Keto diet essentially puts your body into a state of ketosis, which will provide you with an alternative energy source that uses fat to power you through your day. Subsequently, this then reduces and breaks down the amount of fat stored in your body, thus helping to reduce any unwanted weight that you may be carrying.

The key to achieving ketosis is by cutting back on the carbohydrates which include things like potatoes, root vegetables, corn, rice, oats, bananas, apples, dates, raisins, kidney beans and lentils. This is not to say you should completely cut carbs out of your diet, but keeping your intake anywhere from below 20g – 50g will be a good starting point for ketosis to take effect.

Foods with a low-carb content that are ideally suited to the keto diet are natural fats like butter and olive oil, meat, eggs, cheese, fish and seafood. Additionally, a variety of vegetables that grow above the ground are hugely important in achieving a successful keto diet outcome. Eating vegetables like courgette, cucumber, avocado, asparagus, broccoli, peppers, cauliflower and lettuce are ideal.

Can I Use CBD if I’m on the Keto Diet?

If you regularly use CBD, you may be wondering whether taking the popular food supplement will be conducive to the keto diet. The good news is that yes, you can. Whether you’re vaping CBD e-juice or choosing to use CBD sublingual oil, your daily CBD consumption will have no bearing on the success of your proposed diet plan. In fact, VSAVI’s CBD Sublingual Oil is blended with olive oil, which is one of the approved and recommended items to consume on the keto diet. Hooray!

Using CBD to Support a Healthy Lifestyle

If you’re thinking about undertaking the keto diet in order to reduce fat and lead a healthier lifestyle, then it makes sense to use CBD to support that healthy lifestyle. Whether you choose to vape CBD e-liquid or prefer to use CBD sublingual drops under your tongue or combined with food and drink, CBD will support and maintain your body functioning healthily on a regular basis.
